As you know from my previous posts, I’m into modification of my Galaxy Nexus. I’m rooted, and usually have Droid Concepts running as my ROM of choice. I’m always looking for a new theme. Maybe something not finished yet. Maybe something extremely different than stock. You can look on the Play Store for all kinds of themes for the Theme Chooser. I don’t want those themes. That’s why I’m always poking and prodding my theme developer buddies for tests, so I can have input or inform them of any compatibility issues. Themer “nmiltner” has become one of these folks that I’m always looking to for what he has coming down the pipe. A few weeks ago, he gave me a peek at a new theme, and I’ve been testing it for him since. Welcome to your Android device, dressed up.
I’m a big fan of grey scale work, so the fact I really enjoy this blue-silver-white combination, is saying something. I think with his previous work on Ghost, YABT and Dreamsicle, gave him some great ideas and influences in this theme. The gradients used in the blue and silver are subtle, but add to the experience. He’s also added some wallpapers that fit the theme nicely. (Please excuse my stark white Google Now widget!) If you notice in the above image, nmiltner has created some icons that go specifically with this theme. They are free of charge and the link will be included at the end of this article.
Notice the light white curve on the notification bar and navigation bar. Really takes the theme to the next level.
The quick settings tiles have this feature as well. Notice on the 3 and 4 row sets it still doesn’t look crowded with the white accents.
Notice the slight curvature in the Gmail app. Also, the lower buttons and the inverted curve on the actual emails, really makes this theme feel like its moving.
Oh, and don’t forget the MMS app. That’s themed too.
Overall, with the amount of system themed, plus the MMS and Gmail features, this is a first class theme, and definitely “thinking outside the box.” Then again, that’s what Nick is known for. Dare I say this theme is graceful? Maybe playful? Or totally serious in a shroud of Midnight? Go grab this theme right now on the Play Store!
